French Language Immersion
In the French language immersion program at La Petite Ecole, the school day is conducted completely in French by native speaking educators, activating children's receptive and expressive language skills - understanding and communicating in spoken French.
The curriculum is structured sequentially, going from sounds to words to phrases, and taught with differentiated instruction, based on each child's ability and progress.
The earlier a child is immersed in the French language, the greater his or her ability to become proficient. Other benefits of early childhood language immersion include enhanced cognitive and social development, openness to other cultures and improved skills in the child's native language. Our goal is for children to become bilingual and to develop their knowledge of and a real "taste" for Francophone culture.
